Our Story

Scott Douglas Campagne had just returned to California in 2014 after discharging from the United States Air Force and being recognized for serving a "Dozen in a Decade". After 12 deployments between Afghanistan, Iraq, and Qatar, as a sensor operator aboard the MC-12W Liberty, he was ready to begin another life.

Jillian Sabrina Aguilar had also just returned to California in 2014 after living in Uptown, New Orleans, Louisiana, where she spent time gaining independence and life lessons.

Scott and Jillian began spending time together in November 2014, right before Thanksgiving. Adamant that neither were looking to start a serious relationship, they went on several adventures and trips together, beginning with a short but eventful trip to Monterey Bay, California. It was there that they both knew they had fallen in love.

After meeting each others families and experiencing how easily they fit into one another's lives, the two began spending even more time together until Scott eventually asked Jillian (and two cats: O'Malley and Juice) to move into his house on Vernon Oaks Drive in Roseville.

When they weren't traveling, Jillian and Scott spent every Thursday night at a Rocklin Round Table Pizza where they played tabletop games with a large group of people that, inevitably, became close friends of theirs.

Their love for learning new games, meeting new people, and sharing new experiences led to many cherished memories.

Scott was a busy student at Sierra College and Jillian was busy working several different jobs and deploying regularly with disaster response organizations but they always made time for each other. When Scott was ready to transfer to a 4-year university, nearby U.C. Davis couldn't have been a better choice for his degree in Animal Biology. After making a move into Jillian's late grandparents' house in Roseville in 2019, they were close to Jillian's family but a 5-hour drive from Scott's parents and grandmother, in Central California.

Together they have 4 cats: Juice (whom Jillian acquired in New Orleans), Dr. Toast (born in Yuba City; their first kitten together), the famous Bumble (three-legged wonder-cat), and Tumble (the baaaaaby). They all reside happily together in Roseville and are excited to share such a lovely event with all of their closest friends and family this upcoming October.

Scott and Jillian have had several notable vacations and trips together, beginning with their first trip together since that weekend in Monterey Bay, all the way to Croatia and Slovenia. Spending a couple of weeks exploring both countries, as well as spending some time in neighboring countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Other notable trips include Seattle, Chicago, Miami and Key West, Iowa, Montana, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and several visits to National Parks.

In December of 2017, Scott proposed to Jillian on live television! Surrounded by Scott's family and Jillian's family during a segment of Good Day Sacramento, filming at the very same place where we will be gathering for October 12, 2024. Scott had coordinated his proposal for several months beforehand as the ring he asked the question with was custom-made into the shape of a mandarin.

The (real) ring that Jillian wears came from Scott's grandmother, Margaret, who received it as a gift from her husband, Melvin, for their 25th wedding anniversary gift many decades ago. A true family heirloom with a unique setting.

Even though it was only 2017, Scott and Jillian immediately knew which date they wanted for their wedding... 10/10/2020. It had such a cool sound to it and it also held personal significance! It was a long time to wait, and of course, COVID was completely unexpected...

In 2018, Scott and Jillian were both employed by FieldHaven Feline Center in Lincoln, CA, a non-profit, cat-only shelter. Jillian was their Bookkeeper, and Scott was their Cat-Care Superhero (seriously, that was his official title). When the Camp Fire raged through Butte County in November of 2018, Scott and Jillian were on the ground for several days before the fire was extinguished, working diligently to rescue and recover pets that had been left behind or lost due to evacuations. They found themselves in the middle of a smoldering landscape, chasing chickens, ducks, geese, cats, dogs, and even 2 swans! Despite the traumatic and horrific scenes, the two worked successfully in alliance with FieldHaven to bring evacuees peace and comfort in knowing that someone was out there looking for their four-legged babies. While Scott was busy excelling in his college courses, Jillian and the owner and founder of FieldHaven, Joy Smith, found themselves living together in an RV in the middle of Paradise for 10 months, leading the largest reunification efforts of missing cats to their original owners that had been documented: 660 cats.

Again, not foreseeing the whole COVID situation... On December 10, 2018, Jillian and Scott made the decision to have a legal ceremony in a very small and private ceremony on the grounds they worked on in Lincoln, officiated by Joy Smith herself. Fully intending on having the elaborate (and "real") wedding in 2020, this gave Scott & Jillian the chance to reap the benefits of being fully legally married (hellllo VA health insurance!).

By March of 2020, most of the planning was already finalized and finished. In April, Jillian's mom, Judy, mentioned how awful it would be if COVID were to affect our wedding plans! Having no idea what lie ahead of them, Jillian and Scott were convinced that the world would be back to normal by October.

We all know how that went!

In 2022, they began planning again, for that October. Again, life hit and the plans needed to be delayed once again.

So...

At last, Scott & Jillian decided this was it... Come rain or shine, it was going to happen this year!

Scott & Jillian have been the biggest supporters of each others goals and dreams but they wouldn't have been able to do any of this without the love and support from all of their family and friends.
